In general, the demand for skilled workforce in Cape Verde has been and continues to be large. Recognizing this, at the end of 2005 the Foundation Water for Life, began construction of the Technical School in Ponta Verde, (Centro Formação Profissional). After an expansion in 2011, students could follow courses in Woodworking, Electrical Engineering, Installation Techniques, and Metal Technology. Almost 200 young people have graduated and found work or started their own business after completing their studies at the Ponta Verde Technical School.
Unfortunately, Ponta Verde Technical School had to be closed in 2014 due to subsidiary budgetary cuts from the government. In 2019 the Foundation Water for Life transfered the building and its operations to the government. The school started in july 2019 with the courses electronics and intallation technology. Looking forward courses in agricultural area such as fruit cultivation, and cooling technology are on the program. As soon as possible the vocational training woodworking and aluminum will start.
The Water for Life Foundation goal is and continues to make it financially possible for students who cannot pay the course fee to be able to afford it through our donors.
